Children's foot care in Battersea

Children's feet are still developing, and the occasional problem is normal. We assess and treat children's foot concerns gently, and reassure you when all is well.

Children's foot problems we see

We care for a range of children's foot concerns, including heel pain such as Sever's disease (a common, growth-related cause of heel pain in active children), hypermobility, ingrowing toenails, and verrucas. Some issues are part of normal development and simply need reassurance and monitoring, while others benefit from treatment or advice. A professional assessment helps you know the difference.

How we help

A podiatrist will examine your child's feet, ask about their symptoms, growth and activities, and explain what they find in a way that puts both of you at ease. Treatment is always appropriate to a child: gentle, clearly explained and never rushed. Depending on the problem, that might mean reassurance and monitoring, activity and footwear advice, treatment for a verruca or ingrowing toenail, or biomechanical support where helpful. We will be honest about what does and does not need intervention.

When to see a podiatrist

Book if your child has foot or heel pain, an ingrowing or painful toenail, a verruca, frequent tripping or complaints about their feet, or if you are simply concerned about how their feet are developing.

Common questions

Children's foot care FAQs

What is Sever's disease?

It is a common, growth-related cause of heel pain in active children, often around the heel's growth plate. It is usually manageable, and we can advise on activity and relief.

My child has an ingrowing toenail, what should I do?

Book an assessment. We treat children's ingrowing toenails gently and will explain any options clearly to you both.

Are children's verrucas treated differently?

We take a careful, child-appropriate approach and will only recommend what is suitable for your child.

When should I worry about my child's feet?

If there is pain, a change in walking, or you are concerned about development, it is worth an assessment for reassurance or treatment.
